Marching Babies

Posted on

In church one day, I believe it was the Day of the Dead, they were celebrating with images of skeletons everywhere. I began to think about cartoon skeletons – then about baby skeletons – and how interesting a line of marching skeleton babies would look (my mind seems to wonder rapidly in church).

And so began the marching baby skeleton sketches!

After much tweaking I came up with two little dudes. This being one of them!
Cute dead baby! Now to get a bunch of them in a line…

Now I’m going to put the above image on a screen and print them on a vintage piece of barn board – part two coming soon!

Eye Chart

I always forget something at home whenever I go out. So I decided to make an eye chart reminding me of my essentials. I had it printed at Staples on legal paper, tea stained it and hung it up!

Now it’s a classy way to not be such a mess.

Fish Tacos

Oh LORD did we make the best dinner last night. We are on a healthy light kick so we made ourselves these yummy Fish Taco with Salsa Verde and Radish Salad via Martha. Hit up the link for the recipe.

We decided to add some purple cabbage – then got a little cocky and decided to add some mango for even more color. Include a little coconut rice and you are good to go!

Five Stars!

History of Logos

One of my favorite parts of making a new website is a new logo! Here’s how my new one came to be, along with a brief history.

Back in early S&C days, I had this simple banner:

The cupcakes are all thanks to the great Natalie Dee.

After a year or so, I wanted to spice it up a bit. I came up with putting myself into a cupcake wrapper. My homeslice Darold Delaney (follow him @thebreakfastprogram.com) was drawing her for me:

LOVED IT! But being the slackers we are we never got around to finishing it, so I came up with this!

I freakin’ loved drawing those dirty cupcakes.

Next was:

Completely on a different path but I was real proud of myself for this one. I was becoming better at designing and creating my own graphics.

When making this new site, I didn’t really know what direction to go in. And then I saw it, right on the pages of Playboy:

What!? A sign! I had to finally put myself in the cupcake wrapper!

With that as my inspiration I came up with this sketch.

Of course, she’s wearing my favorite black boots and white tee. Add along my John Hancock and there you have it! A site is born.
