Scalloped Hallway

Posted on

hallway

My hallway was looking a little boring. I’m not one for plain old white walls. So I got out some cardboard, a pencil and some watered down black paint and got to work. Using a cardboard circle, I drew on the scallop pattern on the wall. Then, with a paint brush I traced over the pencil pattern in my now signature painterly way.

hallway1I am also working on a collection of family photographs that I hope will soon cover the wall.

And here is a detailed shot for good luck. Happy pattern making!

Blood Splatter Curtains

Posted on

Our curtains were white, very white. Against white walls. White is the death of me. Something had to be done.

So, with a paint, dye, water mixture I went to work. Using a straw I splattered some fake blood all over those bad boys! With that said, I really don’t recommend the straw method. I sucked up some mixture, got sick, and dyed my whole mouth crimson.

But it was worth it. Just a little bit of blood goes a long way.

Dexter, eat your heart out.

Alligator Hanger

I ordered myself a little present, and this is what I saw when I opened the box! It’s my new jewelery rack!

Well, more like an alligator head. More like both! But mounted that 9 foot baby on the wall and got to hanging some necklaces off the teeth and ta da!

Instant homemade jewelry rack.

Halloween Costumes

This year we went costume crazy!! I had a total of three different costumes for three different days.

Dave and I had some parties to attend on Saturday so we dressed up like…

The time life images of the Times Square celebration after WWII! We won best costume! Here are a few pictures with creepy clowns for good measure…

For our party we dressed up like…

Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love! We never really got a good picture of us since we were so busy with the party. So here are some photobooth pictures for good measure.

and finally for Halloween night at work my coworkers and I dressed up like…

Mimes! I was the droog mime.

Malcolm McDowell gave me his blessing. Yes, I said it. The original droog said I looked better them him! Such a dirty name dropper…

I can not WAIT for next year…so many things to be!!

Santa can’t come if you don’t have a fireplace – so I made one out of paper!

Much cozier.

Throw Pillows

My huge couch was so sad with only two blah pillows. Time for a makeover!

Ikea supplied the yellow fabric, two new pillow and two new white covers for my old pillows. I made some simple pillow covers with the fabric and bam! New couch.

I tried to find instructions on how to make these pillow covers online. Here are the best written and video instructions I could find.

Chalkboard Wall

If you love keeping to do lists as badly as I do, having a chalkboard wall is where it’s at.

A little painters tape to create a snazzy border and you’re good to go!

All your to-do ducks are in a row…and you can even play hangman!
